Travel Journal Aboard a Sun Odyssey

Would you be ready to set off on an adventure with complete strangers in the middle of the ocean, to rediscover the natural elements and the benefits of nature?  This is the challenge taken up by Augusto Escolar and his crew, for several weeks off the coast of Spain, aboard a Sun Odyssey 490.

Facing the Sea, the Wind and the Waves

Augusto, whose life's mission is to lead convoys of sailboats to the Mediterranean, is very attached to the marine world.  One day, he decided to assemble a crew of strangers to take part in his adventure:  to cruise, to escape the everyday, to disconnect from real life…

Several weeks later, Sailing Alisios was born!

" My name is Andrés Borges and I am a director based in Madrid.  My work is always guided by nature, and particularly, by the sea."

" My name is Augusto Escolar. I was born in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, into a family anchored in the maritime world.  The ocean has been an integral part of my life since childhood:  it makes me feel so many emotions. "

" My name is Joel Vinson.  I was born in Argentina, in the city of Rosario, on the banks of the Paraná River.  On this same river, my passion for adventure and the water was born.  Ever since, I have been traveling the world in a thousand different ways:  by hitchhiking, by bike, by camper, by bus, by plane, and by boat…"

From the Canaries to the Balearics, Breathtaking Scenery

Join us several nautical miles off the coast of Spain, to begin the voyage aboard a Sun Odyssey 490, and let yourself be enthralled by the magic of the ocean.  Headed for the Balearics… a lovely wake trails behind the sailboat, as if drawn over the waves.

When we climb on board a ship, the crew is as one.  We help each other and we teach each other, mutually; some with more experience than others, but all with a determination and a will that pushes us to do things we never would have imagined.

The Logbook

Experience the Adventure through Stories

We raise the sails, headed toward a new destination.  The objective is donned with pride and satisfaction because we feel sustained by the adventure. What we experience during the voyage is incredible and exciting.

The calm after the storm...  After days and days of sailing, with lots of wind and waves, we finally are able to enjoy a sunny day… perfect for taking advantage of the aft platform and going for a swim!

Ah the deep blue sea… a swim that purifies the soul, without a doubt!

The end of the day does not mean the end of cruising!  On the water, the crossing never ends, the wind continues to carry us on…

The night falls, but the magic continues. The logbook is still being written for the voyage to live on.
