Jeanneau and Offshore Racing:  Savoir-Faire and Heritage Delivering Exceptional Performance

60 Years of Commitment to Great Offshore Races

For over six decades, Jeanneau has cultivated a culture of innovation for enhanced performance.  Beginning in the 1980’s, the shipyard became the official supplier for the Tour de France à la voile, with the Rush, then the Sélection, and the JOD 35 sailboat models.  In parallel, Jeanneau Techniques Avancées would distinguish themselves in iconic races, such as the Route du Rhum, where their multihulls would sweep the podiums – notably in 1986, with the triumph of Philippe Poupon.  In 1990, the first three places on the awards podium were occupied by Jeanneau Techniques Avancées trimarans, including Florence Arthaud’s famous Pierre 1er.

From the Construction of Prototypes to Accessible Series

Over the years, Jeanneau’s heritage in highly competitive racing has contributed to the design of accessible and reliable sailboat model lines.  The brand remains faithful to its commitment to offer high-performance, well-designed sailboats able to distinguish themselves in offshore races – all while remaining easy to handle for experienced amateurs.  The Sun Fast line has inherited the expertise of the shipyard without pretention to elitism:  with over 1,000 sailboats built across the line, Jeanneau proves that accessibility and performance can coexist.

Naval Architects and Design for Competitiveness

From the start, Jeanneau has worked with naval architects renowned for mastery of the constraints of offshore racing.  Daniel Andrieu, historic designer of Sun Fast sailboats, knows the IRC gauge perfectly:  he designed the Sun Fast 3200 and Sun Fast 3600, carefully considered to meet the most demanding owners’ expectations of performance and price.

Guillaume Verdier, at the origine of the Sun Fast 3300, is also the naval architect of boats in the Vendée Globe and America’s Cup.  With Andrieu Yacht Design, he has conceived an innovative hull for the Sun Fast 3300, optimised for performance in downwind sailing and with an average speed estimated at up to 5% above that of the Sun Fast 3200.

The design of the Sun Fast 3200, Sun Fast 3300, and Sun Fast 3600 integrate careful considerations regarding the distribution of space, sail area, lightweight materials, and ergonomic design in the cockpit.  The result:  the sailboats are regularly present in the highest rankings for the biggest European and international races.

Sun Fast 30 One Design:  New-Generation One Design for Offshore Racing
